Hello everyone !
Here is a new designer story for you :) This week, we're going to talk about Balenciaga and its very famous creative director Nicolas Ghesquière (as suggested last week by Chocolatedog101).
The "city" Balenciaga bag.
You have to know that it's Christobal Balenciaga (1895-1972, Spain) who, in 1937, launch the first collection of the brand in Paris. It was at this time a very huge success (thanks to the very famous "tonneau" collection, and also the bowl-shaped skirt later in 1969). And then, the fashion house started to fade...
That old Christobal..
Nicolas Ghesquière was born in 1971 in the north of France. He made his first designer steps with Jean Paul Gaultier and Thierry Mugler. Then, he starts working for Balenciaga in 1995 and used his talent to make the fashion house shine again. His creations melt sensuality and futurism, and quickly it appears that he is one of the most hold designer in esteem of his generation.
Nicolas tried also to refresh old fashion mesh of the brand (which were really famous in the 30's and the 60's), as he is editing about 6 to 8 items every year. That's how Balenciaga keeps looking forward while honoring the most famous clothing which brought the fashion house to its current success.
Balenciaga chose many well known and good looking women as ambassadors of the brand, such as Charlotte Gainsbourg (French actress-singer).
Stardoll gives a huge place to Balenciaga / you may have noticed many items coming on the site through the years. I'll show you some nice outfits and shoes (they are my favorite Balenciaga things), and I'll let you discover the rest of the outfits on the seenonstardoll blog (because if I publish all the clothes here, that post will never end !).
.. and shoes again :)
Secret tip : Oscar de la Renta, Givenchy and Ungaro worked for Balenciaga in their early years..
That's all for today :)
Cheers xx
