So we all remember the Eco Design competition a few months ago where you sent in your designs hoping for them to be made into items on stardoll. Click HERE to refresh your memory
Well when the new Eco Design store was released a few days ago I and I'm sure a lot of you all expected it to be the winners of the competition. But it's not. Callie said in the starblog today "We took your suggestions for the most sustainable and eco-friendly designs and put them into a brand new, environmentally conscious shop" So basically stardoll didn't use the designs they received instead they took them as "suggestions" Which confuses me because a lot of the items in the store are just replicas of real life items. There are probably more but that's just the main few. How did they use our submitted designs then if a lot of the stuff is based on real life items anyway? Unless people copied them and sent them in but I would be more inclined to think that stardoll themselves designed these items because like they said they just used ours as suggestions and didn't use the actual designs the members sent in. So in reality this was not really a contest at all because a contest needs winners and they're are none. Stardoll clearly said a few months ago that the winners would be featured in a new starplaza store.
I see no "winning entries" I just see items based on real life items, the same as every other store. I have no problem with stardoll releasing a Eco Design inspired store but we were given the impression that the store was going to be like the Decade Of The Teens contest and our designs would be in it. But that didn't really happen. To be honest I'm sure a lot of the designs stardoll received were imitations of designers work anyway (hence why I think these contests are a bad idea & didn't enter even though I study design in real life) but in future I think stardoll should be more clear about what is involved in these contests. I'm not sure if stardoll themselves choose the items in the store and took inspiration from real life items or if the people who entered just copied the designs, sent them in and stardoll took inspiration from them but either way the whole thing isn't what we thought it would be.
