Hello and welcome to World Fashion!
This is a (mostly) weekly article, based on fashion from around the world.
On our planet, there are hundreds of different nationalities, all with their own unique history, habits and culture. All those have resulted in an own style of fashion, depending on the nature and moral beliefs. Each week we will choose a country and discuss their unique type of fashion and how that can be effected in Stardoll.

Interview with: 2babelicious

What is your country’s current style/trend?
According to fashion magazines [in South Africa], this summer white, pastels and bold flower patterns will be in.
The style and cut of items will be more simplistic, practical and feminine than last season.
Long flowing dresses, slip dresses, flat shoes and wedges are all in this summer.
What’s your style and is it influenced by this trend?
My own style depends on the colour, cut and material. I know how to dress to enhance my best features, and I am not influenced by any fashion trends. If an item looks good on me and I feel comfortable in it, I’ll buy it whether it’s “in” or “out”! If I have to put a name to my own style, it would be a combination of feminine, earthy and casual elegance.
How’s the shopping in your country?
Most towns and cities have big shopping malls with many clothing stores where you can get the latest fashion items. Major cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg also have exclusive boutiques for fashion lines like Hugo Boss, Chanel and Prada. Some popular South African stores are Mr Price, Edgars, Foschini’s and Milady’s, to name but a few.
Is there something you dislike about your country’s fashion?
The only “look” that I truly dislike is the hip hop/ gangsta look with the low-hanging jeans or pants.
As a teacher it irritates me when a boy swaggers into the classroom with half of his underwear on show for the whole world to see. And I’m sorry, but they cannot tell me they feel comfortable when they have to strap their jeans to their thighs with a belt! In my opinion the dumbest “fashion statement” ever. (I apologise in advance if I offend anyone who likes to dress like this.)
Thank you very much 2babelicious for your answers and your useful info about South African fashion ^^

Facts about South African fashion:
1. In South Africa, some well-known brands are particularly popular. These popular brands are usually sport brands like Adidas, Nike, Reebok and Billabong. Out of these brands, Adidas is the most recognised and most owned in South Africa.
2. The "Madiba shirt", a batik silk shirt, usually covered in bright and colourful prints, has originated in South Africa. It's thanks to former South African president Nelson Mandela, who wore these shirts regularly, that these shirts have been popularised.
3. Even while not really known as a world-renowned country, in 2011 alone, South Africa hosted three fashion weeks, taking the lead in the field of African fashion. Two of these fashion weeks were hosted in Cape Town and one was hosted in Johannesburg. They involved designers from all over the continent, and brought international attention to the African fashion scene.
4. One of the most well-known South African celebrities is fashion model and actress Charlize Theron.

EDIT:
Allot of people seem to think this article as racist. Probably because they think the dress ups are meant as a description of what the people of these countries wear now a day. Its not actually. Its about what is purely South African, not how the other cultures influenced that countries. Of course it isn't what 90% of the people wear. But just T-shirts and jeans every week would be boring, don't you think? Its indeed a generalization because… well, we'll admit it. We are too lazy to make a article for every single South African. Sorry, we are horrible people, I know ;)
Hopefully this makes you feel less offended.
